Dean is a senior executive business strategist specializing in digital and E-commerce, corporate branding, marketing, advertising, communications, distribution, and sales development.
He is recognized as a world leader in the evolution and advancement of a ‘Digital First’ marketing and communications capability. He has developed and implemented numerous E-commerce solutions that have generated significant results, maximized efficiency, visibility, and revenue while strengthening audience and stakeholder relations.
Dean participated as a member of the Google advisory board in Asia, global advisory board for LinkedIn, and recognized as one of the Top100 Most Influential Global Marketing Executives by the World Marketing Congress in 2016.
Drawing on 25 years of domestic and international business development and marketing experience, launched Canada’s first ultra-low-cost airline. As New Leaf Travel’s Chief Commercial Officer, he established corporate branding, operational infrastructure, marketing and communication plans to drive the brand’s commercial success.
Dean recently returned to Canada from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where he spent 3+ years as Senior Vice President, Head of Marketing and Product for Malaysia Airlines. He lead a full business transformation process to exit from a legacy marketing environment to a fully digital capability in less than 14 months, and steered Malaysia Airlines (MAS) through crisis response and lead the marketing business continuity strategy following the disappearance of MH370 and the loss of MH17. He managed all of the marketing and communications activities amid unprecedented tragedy, operational challenges, and international media response to recover $1 billion in lost revenue in less than 5 months. This included developing a global real time audience engagement capability documented as one of the world’s best by the Wall Street Journal in 2014.
He spent nine years as Vice President of Travel Solutions with AIMIA formerly Carlson Marketing where he managed all travel operations, product merchandising, and travel marketing. He was directly responsible for the entire travel program management for several Canadian financial institutions loyalty programs, and developed Carlson’s web based automated travel shopping and booking tools, subsequently deploying them in Canada, the US, and several international markets including Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America.
Previously Director of Marketing with Air Canada Vacations where he managed the national advertising and promotional efforts for one of Canada’s premier tour operator brands. He also held executive positions with Just Vacations Ltd., Budget Rent a Car (Canada) Ltd., and Signature Vacations.

Dean holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Manitoba and has studied Sales Management at York University.
