Doug McMillan is a Professional Engineer with over 30 years of experience in the Oil & Gas sector. His breadth of experience in operations, research, sales, engineering, marketing, and business development has created a belief in that “no is never the answer”, but rather a gateway to lead teams to go outside the box to find the solution “no?, but what if we…”. As an executive from innovative start-ups, to well known, industry leading Private and Public companies, he has thrived in providing customers with new and effective team driven technological solutions to their ongoing challenges.
Prior to his time as a consultant, Doug served as President & CEO for Engineered Chemistry Inc. based in Calgary creating a specialized engineering team to expand the market breadth of Complex-nano-Fluid (CnF®) technology in Canada. Before the ECI start-up venture, he was Senior VP Operations North America for the publicly traded Gasfrac Energy Services Inc. bringing a ‘waterless’ frac solution to the industry. During his career path he served a couple terms in Edmonton working for the Alberta Research Council melding technical solutions with industry demand.
Doug holds a degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alberta. In addition, he returned to studies a decade later to attain his MBA and was awarded from the University of Calgary the 1998/99 Entrepreneurship Award – MBA Excellence in Consulting. He is a registered member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
Doug and his family live on an acreage outside of Calgary where he can re-charge touching on his roots as a curiosity driven prairie farm boy. He and his wife’s favorite pastime is watching and cheering on their two boys as they engage with their teammates in Basketball, Baseball & Football.
