He enjoys helping people and companies succeed. Ian has extensive experience in many aspects of the oil and gas industry, and has been able to cross-pollinate oil field technologies into the construction industry in multiple unique circumstances. Ian was asked to join an advisory planning committee to the UK British Nuclear Fuels Division (BNFL) for deep-well radioactive waste disposal repositories design in the UK.
Based in Calgary, Ian works with the Envision team to help clients with ESG training as well as Diversity & Inclusion, coaching, leadership development, change management, strategy development & execution and operational excellence.
Ian had worked at Core Laboratories Canada Ltd, ProTechnics Division and later as VP Corporate Business Development for fourteen and four years respectively. He was originally recruited in Houston to return to Canada. Ian provided the Emergency Operations & Safety manual to the at-the-time, the new federal Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) which helped transform the new federal dept with relevant nuclear support. He was also successful in technology and digital transformation of the division into a very successful and trusted value-add, profitable entity with 30% annual revenue growth year over year.

He was initially the Canada sales representative for Hibernia and later as the Western Hemisphere Operations Manager in Houston, and was involved in procedure writing and field operations in the Gulf of Mexico, Texas and Venezuela.
Ian started in the oil and gas industry with NOWSCO Well Service Ltd, involved in fifteen countries including Canada, USA, UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EAME). He held various positions within NOWSCO including operations excellence, emergency well control, sales, safety, procedure-writing, hiring and training, QA/QC, environmental risk, project management and regional manager in various countries. Ian’s last position was in Aberdeen as Regional Product Line Manager for Pumping Services for EAME region. It was completed ahead of schedule, in a record-setting 41 days vs the 60-day planned interval, with a perfect safety record.
He has served on the Board of Directors for the Petroleum Services Association of Canada (PSAC). Ian was also the PSAC representative for the CAPP – BC EPG section and on the ENERGY Education Committee of PSAC and initiated the idea of the Alberta “One Stop Area Based Closure” Decommissioning Program. He has held memberships in six oil and gas industry associations.
Ian graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a BSc. Advanced Degree in Land Use and Environmental Studies. He laments losing his Spanish and Arabic languages, and most of his French language due to lack of use. Ian enjoys reading good history books, especially WW2, playing golf, baseball, watching hockey and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
