Robert is an experienced industry executive and Senior Partner at the Envision Group. In his career he has worked across the energy value chain for operators, service companies, manufacturers, and private equity. He assists executive teams in facilitating the development and execution of stretch goals, coaching executives through challenges and obstacles, and arranging financing if needed through his senior partnership role at Fieldstone Equity, a Houston-based Merchant Bank.
He has 40 years of industry experience and has previously held senior executive positions at Mobil, ExxonMobil, Schlumberger, and several major management consultancies. During his consulting career Robert has completed over 200 projects for operators, oil field service companies, and technology firms. Clients have ranged from start-ups to Fortune 10 companies. ExxonMobil, Saudi Aramco, BP, Shell, Devon, Enbridge, and Apache are a few examples.
Robert is currently working with a range of companies on growth strategies. His portfolio includes traditional energy, disruptive clean tech, energy transition and medical services companies. He is recognized for his expertise in technology commercialization, for designing organizations to support fast growth, for establishing successful business partnerships, and for implementing operational excellence practices. He values collaboration, creativity, teamwork, and solving challenging business problems.
Robert is also a board member of 6 growing technology firms, providing strategy and governance advice.
Robert started his career as an exploration geophysicist at Mobil Oil, managing various internal technical consulting and business organizations. At the time of the Exxon Mobil merger, he was appointed as leader of the Upstream integration team, rolling out the new XOM R&D organization in less than six months.
After departing ExxonMobil, he founded his own management consulting firm, working for operators and energy start-ups in the US, Canada, and the Middle East. After selling to Schlumberger, he and the founding team of Schlumberger Business Consulting grew the firm to over $150 million per year in revenue and then sold to Accenture. After SBC, Robert led the turnaround and growth of two Houston- based management consultancies, and then joined Envision as well as Fieldstone Partners in 2019.
Robert holds an MBA from Southern Methodist University, a BSEE from Michigan Technological University, and a BA in Physics from Carleton College. He is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Society of Exploration Geophysicists and holds six patents for new exploration methods.
When Robert is not working, he enjoys downhill skiing, short Triathlons, walks with his herding dogs with his spouse Carol, and reading any good history book.
